Audiences around the world are familiar with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s blockbuster musical “Jesus Christ Superstar”, which heads to arenas across the United Kingdom soon as part of a national tour. As part of the spectacle audiences will be able to pick up theatre tickets to witness the show at The O2 Arena, where they will have the opportunity to see some surprising cast members in the lead roles.
Comedian Tim Minchin plays Judas Iscariot, Mel C will play Mary Magdelene and Chris Moyles will take on the role of King Herod. As can be seen, this will be a musical spectacular like no other.
Based partly on the story of Jesus, in particular the last week of his life according to the Gospels, “Jesus Christ Superstar” has been a popular and well known musical since it first emerged on Broadway in the 1970s. As such this is a special 40 year celebration of the show and comes on the back of an ITV show called “Superstar”, which aims to find the performer who will portray Jesus Christ in the production.
Songs throughout include “Superstar” and “I Don’t Know How To Love Him”.
In a year that also brings “Walking With Dinosaurs” to the venue, “Jesus Christ Superstar” is at the O2 Arena on Friday 21st September 2012.
