Saw this show for the first time yesterday. What a real treat. Must admit it was Alfie Boe & Matt Lucas appearing that prompted me to book. However, the whole cast were great and I couldn't get over the stage sets. Absolutely brilliant. It was further enhanced by an extremely enthusiastic audience, many of whom I am sure have seen the show before. Certainly highly recommended.
Brilliant show! Appreciated the hard work obviously put in by all the members of the cast to make it a very memorable evening. Thought Javert fantastic. Great performances from Matt Lucas and Alfie Boe. Lighting, scenery and costumes superb, very atmospheric. (Tuesday 9th August 2011)
Haven't managed to match it yet. music & acting amazing.
Saw the show on the 20th July. This is the only show I have ever seen on the London stage. My God, what a show to see. I couldn't believe how quickly the time passed. Absolutely fantastic. Will certainly be seeing this one again.
Absolutely fantastic, we were sitting in front row. It is so obvious this cast have gelled so well, it is a young cast, Alfie Boe and Matt Lucas are great mentors. Watch this space, the young lad who plays Gavroche is a rising star.
I came to see the show last Friday the 29th July and I was overwhelmed by how exceptionally good it was.
Please thank the entire cast for the best show I have seen in a very long time
regards to everyone.
I´ve been coming to London for years now and a absolutely `must´is LES MIS, starting at Palace Theatre and continuing at Queen´s Theatre.
I´ve scored 5-super, I´d like to give a 6. Thanks to all the performers since then for wonderful hours.
See you next time on September 9th, I´m looking forward to that 13th show, I´ve will have seen then.
Kindly regards from Freiburg, Germany.
I must stop booking Les Mis. Have seen it 8 times now and there is still not a show that comes anywhere near the roller coaster of emotions that Les Mis puts you through.
You'll need tissues by the interval half for tears and half for laughter.
Seen les mis 3 times cant get enough trying to book again to take my 79 year old mum and my 14 year old niece doesnt matter what age you are its brilliant.
The Worlds longest running musical is still one of the best shows in London. Les Miserable has played in 41 countries and 91 cities around the World. It is the jewel in the Crown of Producer Cameron Mackintosh having won top theatrical awards all over the world and is as compelling and brilliant as ever. Now playing in the Queens theatre (just a little further towards Picadilly Circus than its previous home The Palace Theatre) this smaller venue only adds to the potency of the most successful musical of all time.
Created in collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Directed by Trevor Nunn and John Caird, Les Miserable is based on the novel of the same name by Victor Hugo. It follows the life of Jean Valjean - a man who has been imprisoned for 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread while starving - who as an outcast assaults and robs the Bishop of Digne of his silver. When Valjean is capture by the authorities and taken back to be identified, the Bishop shows him mercy and makes Valjean promise to change his ways in exchange for his freedom and the silver. Valjean pledges to start a new life for the better.
What follows is a story that takes us across France over many years to the end of Valjean’s life. He is pursued by an obsessed Police officer (Javert) and tries to keep his adopted daughter Cossette safe from his dark past and the oncoming French revolution in Paris.
This is one of the great musicals of all time. The story moves quickly and has multiple plot lines. It has one of the best scores of any musical ever written and almost every song is a show stopper. The beautiful and impressive designs of the set and lighting have lost none of their power and the cast in this 25th anniversary production are terrific. The show has the best end of Act One number in musical theatre and a host of spectacular ballads and set pieces. If you haven’t seen this wonderful show then there has never been a better time.
The production is going all out for this monumental achievement in theatre (there is a new version of the show coming to the Barbican - where the original started its life - for 22 performances from the 14th of September until the 2nd of October. This will be followed by a spectacular 25th Anniversary concert at the O2 Arena in Greenwich on Sunday the 3rd of October featuring casts past and present with a host of Celebrity guest appearances. If you are a Les Miserable fan these are events you won’t want to miss!
