The St James Studio welcomes a Christmas show with a difference this year as Nick Hutchison’s production Noël Coward’s Christmas Spirits takes to the stage. It takes us on a journey through Christmas itself whilst utilising a range of storytelling techniques to look at the changing perspectives on the festive season around the world and over the years.

Among the cast members taking to the stage are Charlotte Wakefield, Stefan Bednarcsyk and Issy van Randwyck.

Noël Coward’s Christmas Spirits takes us to London in the December of 1940 where we find Coward in his Mayfair flat as bombs rain from the sky during the Blitz. It is against this backdrop that Coward utilises his character Madame Arcati (from Blithe Spirit) to explore Christmas and its worldwide traditions over the course of human history. Throughout the show, stand-out prose and poetry will be utilised alongside songs to create a truly memorable performance.

Charlotte Wakefield joins the production as a rising star in the capital. She recently attracted a great deal of attention for his portrayal of Maria in The Sound Of Music at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre last year, whilst her career has also seen her appear in Mamma Mia! in the West End and Spring Awakening at the Lyric Hammersmith and Novello Theatre, with television appearances along the way.

Noël Coward’s Christmas Spirits is at the St James Studio from Monday 8th December 2014.
