Radio Times will take audiences back in time to the variety shows that used to appear in the West End. It will provide audiences with a range of well known musical numbers that have stood the test of time and are still beloved by audiences today.
The setting is the West End and the show is called Variety Bandwagon, a production that is being broadcast by the BBC as far away as the USA. But putting on a good show is only one part of the puzzle as the war wages on and bombs continue to obliterate buildings around London, so there are plenty of distractions for the crowd.
The show will be directed by Ben Woolf, who is a rising star in the capital and has worked on a range of shows in the West End beyond, perhaps most notably as Associate Director on Shrek the Musical. He has also worked extensively with the Donmar Warehouse as both a writer and director and he is clearly someone whose work will make a big impression in the years ahead.
But now he directs Radio Times, giving audiences the chance to hear classic numbers like Hey Little Hen and Run Rabbit Run, amongst others. It’s not to be missed!
Radio Times runs at the Charing Cross Theatre from Saturday 20th August 2016.
