Rejoice In The Lamb, Burning, Nomadic & Madcap.
The Sadler’s Wells in London’s Islington is regularly the home of some of the best in contemporary dance from around the world. However, in January 2015, attention turns to a home grown company as the Richard Alston Dance Company makes its way to the stage for a 20th Anniversary Mixed Bill.
It will be a chance to see four shows on the stage – Rejoice In The Lamb by Benjamin Britten, with an American choir singing the piece, followed by Burning by Martin Lawrance. After that, those with theatre tickets will witness the world premiere piece Nomadic, which sees the dancer and choreographer Ajani Johnson-Goffe team with Alston to add more to the previous work known as Gypsy Mixture. Finally, audiences witness a piece from the work known as Madcap.
The Richard Alston Dance Company celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2014, having been set up by the acclaimed British choreographer in 1994. The successful company has worked with the BBC and performed works by some of the world’s best known composers.
Richard Alston: 20th Anniversary Mixed Bill heads to the Sadler’s Wells venue in Islington following the Christmas production of Edward Scissorhands at the location, which continues into early January. The Mixed Bill runs for two performances from 26th January 2015.
