The Peacock Theatre welcomes Silk Road, a show that will tell a compelling and engaging story through the use of dance. Put together by the Gansu Dance Drama and the DDOE Opera Ensemble, the show is set in Dunhuang with the well known trade as a backdrop.
Dunhuang is a city in Western China and it is here that we meet a foreign merchant as a drama unfolds involving the ancient Silk Road and friendship.
It has already been seen in China, where audiences have flocked for three decades, and has embarked to other theatres in the United States where audiences have been impressed with both drama and the spectacle of dance.
Now it comes to the Peacock Theatre, the West End outlet for Sadler’s Wells. Many international dance productions appear here regularly and Silk Road will be at home amongst the busy and impressive schedule. As well as Silk Road, the venue is also home to Shadowland in 2014, with 2013 finishing with the likes of BLAM! So it is a great time to delve into the world of dance in the West End.
Silk Road runs at the Peacock Theatre on Saturday 11th January 2014 and Sunday 12th January 2014, with two performances on the latter.
