The classic ballet Sleeping Beauty returns to the stage and once again audiences will be able to experience an inspiring reinterpretation by Matthew Bourne as his hit 2012 show returns to Sadler’s Wells. It is set to land at the London home of dance in December for a run that will take it into the New Year and in the process audiences will be able to marvel in the supernatural tale of romance.
At a time of year when many dance spectaculars are set to appear, including productions like Breakin Conventions: Borderline at Sadler’s Wells and Zoo Nation: Into The Hoods at the Peacock Theatre, Sleeping Beauty is bound to return as a much talked-about show.
This fairy tale focuses on Aurora, who is the princess cursed to sleep for a hundred years. It has been told on countless occasions over the years, ever since the original Brother Grimm fairy tale emerged. Many remember the Disney animated movie, whilst others prefer Tchaikovsky’s ballet and it is the latter that Bourne sources for his new adaptation, with his version using Tchaikovsky’s music to really bring it to life.
Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty is at Sadler’s Wells from Tuesday 1st December 2015.
