The Adventures of Pinocchio

The classic story of Pinocchio makes its way to the Ambassadors Theatre for a brief summer appearance. Presented by the British Theatre Academy and directed by Bornagh Langan, this show takes the original story first penned by Carlo Collodi and adds the wonderful music and lyrics by Neil Bartram to create something truly special.

This is a creation that first formulated back in 2011 and it now plays in the West End, with Pinocchio the famous wooden puppet whose greatest desire is to be a real boy. Along the way he learns a range of lessons about himself that will ultimately help him in his quest.

Whilst Collodi’s original novel, released in the 1880s, started the Pinocchio phenomenon, it has taken many forms over the years, perhaps most famously in the form of Walt Disney Pictures’ animated film version from 1940, so that it is now a major part of popular culture.

This stage version was created at the beginning of this decade with Neil Bartram working alongside writer Brian Hill. Bartram has been behind a wealth of shows over the years and has worked regularly with Hill on the likes of The Theory Of Everything.

But with The Adventures Of Pinocchio they created something truly special that now makes a brief appearance at the Ambassadors Theatre, the ongoing home of Stomp, from 27th July 2017.
