The Nutcracker

The Royal Opera House is the home to one of many productions of “The Nutcracker” to grace the capital this Christmas and that means that audiences have the chance of picking up theatre tickets to see the show performed by the Royal Ballet. With Tchaikovsky’s inspiring score and an enchanting plot at its disposal, the show is certain to provide a gripping tale for those in attendance.

It also demonstrates the lasting appeal of the work of Tchaikovsky, as shows such as “Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty” with the composer’s classic score intact, is also set to appear in the capital this season.

The story focuses on the young girl Clara who, waking on Christmas Eve, discovers a battle raging in the living room between her and her brother’s presents. Then the nutcracker doll, left for he by the magician Dosselmeyer, also comes to life and together they go on an adventure to remember.

It’s a timeless tale that has been told again and again and with this in mind “The Nutcracker” is bound to be a popular choice with London theatregoers this Christmas as it runs at the Royal Opera House from Monday 10th December 2012 to Monday 16th January 2013.
