One of the West End’s most beloved shows makes its way to the Manchester Palace Theatre in 2012 with an appearance from April to May. John Owen-Jones and Katie Hall will take on the iconic roles of The Phantom and Christine whilst Laurence Conner steps up as the director.
The production is known all over the world thanks to the West End version that runs at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London. The show opened back in 1986 and has remained there ever since; making it the second-longest running musical in the capital and the third-longest running show overall. It has also been seen on Broadway and a movie adaptation from 2004 ensures that audiences around the globe are familiar with the breathtaking story.
The plot focuses on the Paris Opera House early in the 20th century, where a mysterious disfigured composer lurks behind the scenes and causes chaos at inopportune times When he falls in love with the singer Christine Daaé and she fails to get a role in the venue’s latest opera, it soon becomes clear that there will be hell to pay...
