2017 sees celebrations of some big names, from Judy Garland in the Arts Theatre’s Judy! to Michael Jackson in the ongoing Thriller Live at the Lyric Theatre. But over at The Other Palace Studio this April, audiences can experience this memorable show that honours the work of Fats Waller.
With an array of talented performers taking to the stage this will be a memorable evening that takes audiences back in time to the golden age of American jazz, with some spectacular performances of Waller’s hits.
Waller is rightly celebrated as one of the most inspirational jazz pianists of his generation, making him a huge part of popular culture and the writer of many well known songs that are familiar to generations of audiences all over the world. From Ain’t Misbehavin’ to Honeysuckle Rose and Viper’s Drag, his work has captured the hearts of audiences on all corners of the globe so that his legend lives on more than 70 years since he died in 1943.
For This Joint Is Jumpin’ the likes of Michael Mwenso, The Shakes, Joseph Wiggan and Michele Lerman take to the stage to perform his hit songs, display stand-out dance moves and more to take audiences on a nostalgic and celebratory journey.
So whether you are a fan of Fats Waller, or if you simply want a great night of unforgettable, classic jazz, this is the show for you. It heads to The Other Palace, the new name for the St James Theatre, one of the hottest new West End venues in London.
