West Side Story remains a firm favourite with fans of musicals and as a result an opportunity to relive the tale in a memorable way is not something that they will want to miss out on. So they will undoubtedly be flocking to the Royal Albert Hall in July for an opportunity to see West Side Story, with a live orchestra playing alongside a big screen presentation of the movie.

The production returns by popular demand and is part of a season of shows at the Royal Albert Hall that celebrate classic movies. Other events in the season include Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness and more, giving audiences an opportunity to witness the marriage between cinema and music.

West Side Story is a great choice for this as it is one of the most famous movie musicals of all time. It appeared on cinema screens for the first time in 1961 following the premiere of the stage version on Broadway in 1957. Directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins it continues to find new audiences around the world.

On this occasion the movie will be displayed whilst the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra provides the score. Dialogue and vocals will remain and the result will be a presentation of the movie that audiences with theatre tickets will not forget.

West Side Story is at the Royal Albert Hall from Friday 4th July 2014..
