Fans of Burt Bacharach will have cause for celebration this summer as this exciting tribute to his work lands on the stage of the Menier Chocolate Factory, one of London’s most exciting venues outside of the West End.
Having already wowed crowds across the Atlantic, What’s It All About? Burt Bacharach Reimagined will delve into the back catalogue of Bacharach via remained versions of his classic hits, as interpreted by Kyle Riabko. The result will be something that fans and non-fans alike to will flock to see.
The show joins a host of hit productions in London that celebrate the work of some of the world’s top musicians, from Thriller Live at the Lyric Theatre (Michael Jackson) to Sunny Afternoon (The Kinks), with audiences treated to some of the top tunes of the 20th century.
After all, Burt Bacharach has been responsible for some well known hits, earning him a place in the spotlight for many decades. He first emerged in the 1950s and can still be seen performing on the stage to this day. Whether it is songs penned for himself, like Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head (from the film Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid), or those penned for other artists like What The World Needs Now Is Love for Jackie DeShannon, plus other hits for Tom Jones, The Carpenters and more, he has made a lasting impression on popular culture.
So with credentials like these, a top name is required to direct this celebration of his work and this stipulation is met by recruiting director Steven Hoggett, a multi-award winner practitioner responsible for various high profile stage shows, films and more. He provided the choreography for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, for example, as well as acting as movement director for Once The Musical and choreographer of Black Watch, the latter of which earned him a Laurence Olivier Award.
What’s It All About? Burt Bacharach Reimagined runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory in Southwark following the show Communicating Doors, which runs until late June. The celebration of the popular musician runs at the venue from Friday 3rd July 2015.
