Everyone enjoys a romantic comedy, even to this day, and with As You Like It, audiences can enjoy one of the earliest in existence with Shakespeare’s classic tale of troubled lovers. It appears at the Olivier National Theatre on South Bank, where audiences will revel in a classic tale directed by the acclaimed Polly Findlay.

This Shakespearean classic will feature an impressive cast as well, continuing the tradition of offering some impressive performances at this prestigious venue. One cast member, for example, will be Rosalie Craig as Rosalind, who has previously starred in the National Theatre’s The Light Princess.

The plight of two young lovers is the focus of As You Like It, in which Rosalind and Celia are forced to flee to the Forest of Arden to escape the court of Rosalind’s uncle. With the fear of death the alternative, they don disguises and head to the forest where they encounter a series of strange and surreal situations. Here, amongst the canopy of trees they fall victim to mistaken identity and discover a hidden secret from Rosalind’s past.

Polly Findlay, director, has provided entertainment for audiences with a range of high profile productions in London, including previous work at the National Theatre like the recent productions of Treasure Island and Antigone. Her other credits include the likes of Derren Brown’s Svengali at the Novello Theatre and Twisted Tales at the Lyric Hammersmith.

Meanwhile, actress Rosalie Craig has also previously worked for the National, with credits like 50 Years On The Stage. She has also appeared on television in Spooks, Doctors and Miranda, to name but a few.

As You Like It is at the Olivier National Theatre from Monday 26th October 2015.
