The St James Theatre is the newest venue to emerge in London’s theatre district and it does so with a play by Sandy Toksvig to entertain its new audiences.
The play is “Bully Boy” and it is set to feature Anthony Andrews in a lead role, with the focus on morality in the military as the bully boy unit of the army comes under scrutiny. The production has already earned positive reviews, with critics giving it high star ratings, so it is likely to be something to keep an eye on when it arrives in the capital.
In “Bully Boy” we meet Major Oscar Hadley, who has been tasked with investigating some misconduct within the British army. However, as time goes on he begins to see things differently and he realises that point-of-view is very important in the case of military occupation in the modern day.
Sandy Toksvig is a well known comedian who has appeared in a wealth of television and radio programmes during her career in British television. The Danish talent has also written books and provided narrations for games, ensuring she is multitalented. Modern audiences will know her as the presenter of “The News Quiz” for the BBC, whilst those that pick up theatre tickets might also remember her appearances in the like of “QI” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”
And those that are wondering where the new St James Theatre is, which will stand up alongside other nearby venues like Trafalgar Studios 1, then they will be interested to know that it is on Palace Street and whilst it is not strictly a West End theatre, is will offer some stand out shows.
“Bully Boy” is at St James Theatre from Tuesday 18th September 2012.
