The Menier Chocolate Factory, regularly the home to some of the top shows of the capital, presents Buyer And Cellar from March 2015 with Michael Urie as its sole cast member. The production is directed by Stephen Brackett.

The one-man show has already proven to be a big success on the other side of the Atlantic, where audiences had a great response to Jonathan Tolin’s hilarious script. As such there’s no reason this success cannot be repeated here in the United Kingdom when London theatregoers pick up theatre tickets.

In Buyer And Cellar, Michael Urie portrays Alex More, a character who has an unusual occupation during his down time as an actor. Instead of waiting tables like many in his position he works in the personal shopping mall of singer Barbra Streisand. It is located in the basement of her Malibu home and it is here that audiences witness a story that has had others in stitches.

The production previously ran in New York and has already toured the US and Canada, allowing it to visit locations such as Los Angeles and Toronto, in addition to other locations around the continent.

Writer Jonathan Tolins is not only known for his stage work, he is also known for writing material for live television events like the Academy Awards and the US version of the television series Queer As Folk. Prior to Buyer And Cellar he penned stage shows like The Twilight Of The Golds.

Meanwhile, has performed in a range of shows on the other side of the Atlantic, with US credits such as The Temperamentals, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying and The Revenger’s Tragedy. However, he will be best known to audiences for his screen work, which includes his famous role in Ugly Betty plus the likes of Made After Hours, Modern Family and the films Such Good People, He’s Way More Famous Than You and Beverley Hills Chihuahua, among others.

The Menier Chocolate Factory is one of the most famous fringe venues in the capital and regularly stages shows that later transfer to the West End. It is the home of Assassins prior to the arrival of Buyer And Cellar.

Buyer And Cellar runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory from Wednesday 11th March 2015.
