Age Restriction: No under 12's allowed
When audiences think of the West End their first thoughts will naturally turn to the world famous plays and musicals that stand proudly at venues like Her Majesty’s Theatre and St Martin’s Theatre, amongst others, but there’s more to it than that. The district regularly welcomes some of the country’s best known comedians to its stage where they perform the latest shows that they have taken to venues across the country.
In 2015 it is the turn of two such performers to make such a move as Dawn French brings her solo show 30 Million Minutes to the Vaudeville Theatre, just prior to Bill Bailey: Limboland at the same venue.
30 Million Minutes will be a must-see event for any fans of the comic performer, whose work over the last three decades has made her a household name. The show is said to delve into her life, not only covering the career that has made her beloved to millions but also exploring her personal life as well. It means that we can expect issues like comic performances to marriage when she takes to the stage of the Vaudeville theatre.
Dawn French first emerged onto the scene in the early 1980s during the alternative comedy boom, which also brought us comedians like the late Rik Mayall, plus Adrian Edmondson and Jennifer Saunders. It was with the latter that she found the most success as she appeared in the sketch show French And Saunders before winning over the hears of the nation as Geraldine Granger in The Vicar Of Dibley. Beyond those she has also appeared in the likes of The Young Ones, Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban and stage shows like La fille du regiment at the Royal Opera House, Smaller at the Lyric Theatre and A Brilliant Divorce at the Apollo Theatre, to name but a few.
Following in the footsteps of comedians like Rob Brydon, Ed Byrne and others, who have made appearances in the West End in recent years, Dawn French brings 30 Million Minutes to the Vaudeville Theatre for performances from 18th Ocober 2016.
