The show has already impressed audiences around the United Kingdom on a successful tour, but now James and Jack Fox head to the West End to star in Dear Lupin, the adaptation of a published letters collection of the same name. The production has been penned by Michael Simkins and will see a well known father and son acting duo portray father and son on the stage of the Apollo Theatre.
The show is adapted from the book by Roger Mortimer called Dear Lupin: Letters To A Wayward Son. The book was a series of letters between a father and son that spanned almost three decades.
Mortimer was a horse racing journalist who died in 1991, with his letters to his sons published on three occasions over the years, with Dear Lupin appearing in 2012 alongside Dearest Jane...: My Father’s Life And Letters in 2014 and Dear Lumpy in 2013. During his life he was the writer of the likes of The History Of The Derby Stakes, The Jockey Club and Twenty Great Horses, to name but a few.
But whilst the adaptation of a popular piece of work is itself cause for great anticipation, audiences are likely to flock to pick up theatre tickets thanks to the presence of both James and Jack Fox. James is a legendary actor whose career goes back to the 1950s, with many of his best known works appearing in the following decade, with credits such as Performance and A Passage To India. More recently, he has been seen in an array of television shows and films like Midsomer Murders and The Great Train Robbery, amongst others. He has also been seen in various stage productions.
So this is a production that should not be missed and it heads to the West End for a summer run at the popular Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. Following its tour to theatres across the UK it is only fitting that it can also be seen in a world-famous location in London’s theatre district. It replaces the equally-popular The Audience.
Dear Lupin is at the Apollo Theatre from Monday 3rd August 2015 (previews from Thursday 30th July 2015).
