Following its run at the Old Red Lion Theatre in Islington in the first half of 2014, Moses Raine’s Donkey Heart runs at the Trafalgar Studios 2. The production takes audiences to Moscow in a world after communism and features the acclaimed and well known Nina Raine as its director.
The full cast includes Pierre Atri, Emily Bruni, Lisa Diveney, Patrick Godfrey, Georgia Henshaw, Alex Large, Albie Marber, James Musgrave and Paul Wyett. They all appeared in the version that was first seen in the Islington venue in 2014 and they now get the opportunity to perform in front of a West End audience.
Donkey Heart is a family drama that uses this familial unit to explore the world of Moscow in the time after communism. We follow different generations of this family as historical events are viewed through their eyes and we see this world reflected in them.
Its run at the Old Red Lion Theatre was met with acclaim and followed-up Moses Raine’s previous shows like Shrieks Of Laughter as proof that he is a talented new writer with many stories to tell.
Nina Raine, the director, is also the playwright’s sister. She has been behind numerous well-received shows that have appeared in the capital, from Jumpy at the Royal Court Theatre to Rabbit at the Trafalgar Studios. Her other credits include Tribes at the Royal Court Theatre, Tiger Country at the Hampstead Theatre and Longing, also at the Hampstead Theatre.
Donkey Heart follows up shows like Not About Heroes and Sikes & Nancy at the Trafalgar Studios 2 from Wednesday 7th January 2015.
