Happy New, at Trafalgar Studios 2, promises something special as it two characters who lead an extraordinary upbringing. Penned by Brendan Cowell, the production will be directed by Robert Shaw and stars the likes of Lisa Dillon, Joel Samuels and William Troughton.
The story introduces us to the characters of Danny and Lyle, two brothers whose mother abandoned them at birth and left them with hens in the Australian outback. They are discovered having lived in a chicken coop for months and as they are placed in care the public becomes interested in their story, allowing them a time in the spotlight. But this cannot last forever and as they return from care and head into the outside world they must face their lives head on as public interest in them wanes.
Lisa Dillon appears in the show on the back of a successful career that has seen her appear on the stage and screen. Her performance in The Master Builder at the Albery Theatre (now known as the Noel Coward Theatre) earned her award nominations and acclaim, with further performances also brining her favourable attention, like A Flea In Her Ear at the Old Vic Theatre.
Happy New transfers from the Old Red Lion Theatre and it is not the only show at Trafalgar Studios 2 this year to have done so, with The Play That Goes Wrong also taking a similar path earlier in 2013.
Happy New is at Trafalgar Studios 2 from Thursday 6th June 2013 (previews from Tuesday 4th June 2013).
