Sally Dexter stars in James Phillips’ play Hidden In The Sand as it premieres at Trafalgar Studios 2 in London’s West End. The show will cast audiences back to the 1970s during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus and also features Daphne Alexander and Scott Handy in lead roles alongside Yolanda Vazquez.
Hidden In The Sand is located in both Cyprus and London and amongst the turbulent action of Turkey’s invasion of the Mediterranean island in 1974 we meet the character of Alexandra (Dexter), who become a refugee, forced to flee her home, within the crisis and after that she makes a new life for herself in London. It is a new journey for her but as she remembers her past, whilst also attempting to put it behind her, she meets an English teacher named Jonathan, whose unexpected affections are a new twist in her life story.
Sally Dexter has appeared in a wealth of west end shows, most recently Spice Girls musical Viva Forever!, and her career goes back to the 1980s. She won a Laurence Olivier Award for her role in Dalliance at the Lyttelton National Theatre and was nominated again for her performance in Olver! at the London Palladium almost a decade later. Beyond that she has also accumulated various television credits on British screens, meaning she will be a recognisable face even to those who are not familiar with West End theatre.
Following The Confessions of Gordon Brown, Hidden In The Sand runs at the Trafalgar Studios 2 in Whitehall from Friday 4th October 2013 (previews from Tuesday 1st October 2013).
