The Apollo Theatre reopens with the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of Let The Right One In, a play based on the famous novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist. The story has already been told on the big screen on two occasions and now it is the turn of West End theatre audiences to experience the production first hand, with two actors from the original Scottish performances – Martin Quinn and Rebecca Benson - making the journey to the capital.

The cast and crew will be working under the direction of John Tiffany, a renowned talent, whose direction of Let The Right One In was praised when it was previously staged at the Royal Court Theatre and at the Dundee Rep.

Let The Right One In tells the story of a teenage boy, Oskar, who lives in the suburbs of Stockholm next door to the mysterious Eli. During the course of the show some unexplained killings begin to take place and these could have been carried out at the hands of a vampire. The bestselling novel was well received on the page and the screen, with audiences praising it for its portrayals of darker themes in human life.

The book was published in 2004 and the first movie version was the Swedish Let The Right One In, which emerged in 2008. It was followed by an American adaptation in the form of Let Me In, which landed on cinema screens in 2010.

For the stage version, the two young actors cast in the lead roles are Martin Quinn and Rebecca Benson, the former best known for Let The Right One In during its tenure in Scotland and for his work with the Scottish Youth Theatre. Benson, meanwhile, has some television shows under her belt, with credits like Shetland, Vera and Holby City, among others.

The last show to appear at the Apollo Theatre was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and that is set to reappear at the Gielgud Theatre in the summer. Meanwhile, Let The Right One In is the latest show to appear at the West End venue as it reopens. Its run begins on Wednesday 26th March 2014.
