Mouthful, a show that seeks to provide a message to audiences about the global crisis in food, heads to the stage of the Trafalgar Studios 2 for a brief run in the Autumn. Starring Harry Lister-Smith and Alisha Bailey and featuring direction from Poppy Burton-Morgan, it deserves to be a much talked-about production.
The show has seen a range of playwrights team up with a range of scientists to put something together with a vital message. These scientists include Professors Tim Benton, Kamal Bawa, Ilkka Hanski, Suzanne Filteau, Molly Jahn and Tim Lang.
The story focuses on a range of characters and their different plights related to food. Harry Lister-Smith, for example, plays Sebastian, whose friend has gone missing in Nigeria, with Sebastian himself making the journey to find lover of a good steak. Then there’s GoGo, looking for some water, and Rashida, played by Alisha Bailey, who simply wishes to eat her chocolate bar. These are just some of the characters and their journeys explored in Mouthful.
The writers of the production include Bola Agbaje, who has penned the likes of Gone Too Far! and Take A Deep Breath And Breathe in recent years. She works alongside Inua Ellams, Clare Bayley, Neil LaBute and Pedro Miguel Rozo.
Performer Harry Lister-Smith has appeared in various television shows and plays, with credits in the latter category that include Posh at the Duke of York’s Theatre and Everyday Maps For Everyday Use at the Finborough Theatre.
Mouthful runs at the Trafalgar Studios 2 from Tuesday 8th September 2015.
