Mrs Lowry And Son heads to Trafalgar Studios 2 with June Watson and Michael Begley in the title roles.

The plot focuses on L.S. Lowry in 1934 as he cares for his mother, who has taken to her bed for the last decade and demanding his absolute attention. So it is only when she is sleeping that he can escape this and tends to his paintings. After all, Mrs Lowry finds her son’s paintings to be ridiculous and vulgar, something that she is eager to point this out to him whenever she sees fit.

The production is directed by Abbey Wright and it is written by the renowned Martyn Hesford, the award-nominated talent who has written for the likes of Coronation Street and others. For audiences looking for a stand-out production amongst other west end shows then this could be the play for them.

Actress June Watson appears in the show having previously taken on roles in a wealth of television and stage productions. She can be seen in the television series The Cafe and pior to that appeared in Doctors, Holby City, Wallander and The Bill, among others, whilst theatre credits have included Smaller at the Lyric Theatre in 2006. She has been performing fr many decades and this has seen her appear in numerous high profile shows as far back as the 1970s and 1980s.

Mrs Lowry And Son follows up Hidden In The Sand and The Confessions of Gordon Brown at Trafalgar Studios 2 from Wednesday 30th October 2013.
