A production of Two Sheds Theatre, My Children! My Africa! heads to the stage of Trafalgar Studios 2 in Whitehall this summer, with the directing duo of Roger Mortimer and Deborah Edgington at the helm and a writer in Athol Fugard. The production was first seen at the National Theatre back in 1990.
A story that delves into a South Africa gripped by apartheid, My Children! My Africa! takes us back to 1984 and introduces us to the character of Thami, where he is confronted with two options as his life path. He is a gifted young black man and his teacher feels that his education will be his path to greater things, but there is another option, an angrier option, that could sway him.
Co-director Deborah Edgington has been behind a wealth of interesting plays that have been seen across London and beyond in recent years, from Muswell Hill at the White Bear and Park Theatre to The Seagull in Winchester, but with My Children! My Africa! she picks up a work that is both gripping and masterful.
And it comes from writer Athol Fugard, an award-winning playwright whose work has been celebrated for decades.
Audiences can pick up theatre tickets for My Children! My Africa! for performances at Trafalgar Studios 2 from Monday 10th August 2015 (previews from Tuesday 4th August 2015).
