Following its previous appearance at the St James’s Studio in 2013, Mike Davis and Rob Crouch’s one-man show, Oliver Reed: Wild Thing, makes its way to the Ambassador’s Theatre for two performances in April. Featuring Crouch in the role of Oliver Reed and with Kate Bannister directing, the show is likely to be as successful in its new West End home as it was at the St James’s venue last August, where audiences with theatre tickets were able to journey through the life of one of great actors of the 20th century.
Oliver Reed appeared in a wide range of well known movies during his career, ranging from the likes of The Trap, The Three Musketeers, The Adventures Of Baron Muchausen and, his final role, Gladiator. The latter was released after his death in May 1999 and it led to a posthumous BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor. He is regarded as one of the greats of the 20th century and his work continues to be held in high regard to this day.
And bringing him to the stage of the Ambassador’s Theatre will be Rob Crouch, who has previously appeared in short films and in Oliver Reed: Wild Thing at the St James’s Studio. He will play the actor in a one-man performance in which he downs drinks and delivers his life story to the audiences of the West End. It is a stand-out performance from Crouch and one that will likely attract great praise in 2014.
Oliver Reed: Wild Thing appears at the regular home of Stomp, the Ambassador’s Theatre, for performances on Tuesday 1st April 2014 and Tuesday 8th April 2014.
