Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner – better known to audiences simply as Dan & Jeff – have won over younger crowds in recent years thanks to their popular stage shows as part of the Potted series. Beginning with Potted Potter: The Unauthorised Harry Potter Experience and progressing to the likes of Potted Pirates, they have taken imaginations by storm and put together some impressive performances.
Now they’re back, this time ready to give Sherlock Holmes the Potted treatment at the Vaudeville Theatre. If their past hits are anything to go by, this is not going to be one to miss when it appears in the West End.
Whether you are a Sherlock Holmes fan or you are keen to see the next step in the adventures of Dan & Jeff, Potted Sherlock will be the show for you. The show sees the duo team up with Lizzie Wort to put on a show that has all of the hallmarks of Arthur Conan Doyle novels, including many of the iconic characters, and explore 60 stories onstage in a limited amount of time.
The Potted series began with Potted Potter in 2006 and it has been seen regularly since, particularly in the West End and at the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe, leading to inevitable follow-ups. They returned with the likes of Potted Pirates and Potted Panto, which were also well-received, and now they keep the popular concept alive oince again. Potted Sherlock has already been seen at the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe, where it proved to be as popular as their past hits, and now they set their sights on West End crowds.
And of course it arrives in a year that sees it compete with many other children’s shows in the capital, proving that it is a great time to introduce younger audiences to the West End. 2014 sees Cecil’s Starlight Safari with The Musical Balloon Band at the Arts Theatre, The Railway Children at the King’s Cross Theatre and the annual production of The Snowman at the Peacock Theatre. So it’s going to be a memorable winter season in London.
Potted Sherlock is at the Vaudeville Theatre from Friday 12th December 2014 (previews from Monday 8th December 2014).
