The Broadway classic Proof is set for a return to the stage in 2013 as it gains a run at the Menier Chocolate Factory. It will give audiences the chance to pick up theatre tickets and revisit the compelling tale penned by David Auburn over a decade ago.
Mariah Gale plays Catherine, whose genius mathematician father Robert has recently passed away. She cared for him in his later years as his mental illness took hold and now she is alerted to something revolutionary by one of his former students Hal (Jamie Parker). He is found a piece of work that Robert was working on that could be a major deal in the Maths community and she must set out to prove that Robert was the original author. Meanwhile, fears that she may have inherited more than she’d like from her father whilst also embarking on a new relationship.
Gale is an actress who has worked on a wide range of shows over the years and she comes t the Menier Chocolate Factory on the back of her appearance in Three Sisters at The Young Vic last year, plus many appearances with the Royal Shakespeare Company like Romeo And Juliet, The Comedy Of Errors and Love’s Labour’s Lost. She has also made her way to television screens in a TV version of Hamlet and shows like Skins.
Poof is set to begin its run at the Menier Chocolate Factory on 20th March 2013 (with previews a little earlier on Wednesday 13th March 2013).
