“Ruby Wax: Losing It” moved to the Duchess Theatre after great success at the Menier Chocolate Factory. In fact it originally opened at the London Bridge venue in February 2011. But the great success that the show has felt at the hands of audiences in the capital has encouraged producers to return the production for an extra five week this summer. The show's move to the venue will give many more fans a chance to pick up Theatre Tickets and witness the famous comedian wax lyrical about a range of topics from the concept of celebrity to thought-provoking themes such as depression.
The show is brought in front of audiences by some top talents. Not only does it feature Ruby Wax delivering stand-up like she does best, it also boasts a director in Thea Sharrock, a director that has been behind a wealth of acclaimed shows in the capital. Her recent credits include “After the Dance” at the prestigious National Theatre, “The Misanthrope” at the Comedy Theatre and “Equus” at the Gielgud Theatre, in addition to further productions around the country and even on the other side of the Atlantic.
In “Losing It” there is plenty for Ruby Wax to talk about and onstage audiences will be treated to a performance that features all of the wit and skill that she has demonstrated as a comedian over the years. So expect observational humour to make an appearance as topics such as the cult of celebrity and television make their way to the forefront, as well as the obsession people have with trying to obtain the perfect body. But there will also be some serious topics as well, with mental illness one of the darker themes of the show as Wax delves into some thought-provoking issues.
Ruby Wax is an American comedian who has made a name for herself largely in the UK thanks to a career that kicked off in the 1980s and has seen her appear in a wealth of television shows and stage productions over the years. Her credits include Royal Shakespeare Company performances, in addition to the likes of “Don’t Miss Wax” and “Girls on Top” for television.
