Sooty has fans all over the United Kingdom; that much is certain. The mute, yellow bear has captured the hearts of youngsters for decades and each time he brings a show to the stage he has excelled in providing a memorable performance.
And with this in mind the return of his 1980s hit “Sooty in Space” is bound to put a smile on the faces of those with theatre tickets. The show originally featured human Matthew Corbett but as he has been retired for over a decade the production is revamped to feature current human companion Richard Cadell, who took over from Corbett in 1998.
“Sooty in Space” has everything you could want for in a Sooty show, from martians and space stations to flying cups and flying saucers. There’s even a 3D segment, which will require audiences to utilise their free pair of 3D glasses!
Sooty first emerged in the spotlight in the 1950s when Harry Corbett was his human companion. He stepped down for son Matthew in the 1970s before Cadell came onboard in the 1990s. During this time he has appeared in television shows like “The Sooty Show”, “Sooty” and “Sooty and Co.”, among others, ensuring his place in the top tiers of children’s television.
