If you are looking for hilarious comedy, you’ve come to the right place. This show at the Trafalgar Studios 2, which stars Adam Riches and other performers, follows the attempts to put on a kitchen sink drama onstage, with constant rewrites taking matters further and further into bizarre territory.
Riches appears in the production alongside Charlie Cameron, Tosin Cole, Hatty Preston and Ben Starr, whilst John Schwab directs from David Spicer’s script. With such talent on the stage, it is likely that STOP!...The Play will be a much bigger success than the show-within-a-show it is portraying!
The show chronicles the story of the play The Dark Heart Of Art, the mentioned kitchen sink drama that focuses on a down-on-his-luck artist. In the first act we witness the rehearsals and then the first performance in the second act and during the course of the show we will see how things develop disastrously. The writer is not one to accept a script in its current form and as more and more rewrites find their way into the hands of the actors, the show moves further and further away from its original form, with the cast hoping to keep up with an increasingly bizarre text.
Performer Adam Riches, who plays The Leading Man in the production, is a successful comedian who will provide a familiar face to anyone with theatre tickets that have seen his shows at the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe. These range from Alpha Male and Victor to the more recent Bring Me The Head Of Adam Riches, which earned him the Edinburgh Comedy Award.
STOP!...The Play runs at the Trafalgar Studios 2 from 2nd June 2015, the same period in which the sister venue Trafalgar Studios 1 is presenting James Freedman: Man of Steal.
