Audiences will be thrilled to discover that The Gruffalo is returning to the Lyric Theatre. One year after the original show’s revival during the 2016/17 season the fantastic sequel show The Gruffalo’s Child now makes its presence known as some of our favourite characters return from November 2017.
Those that fell in love with the story presented in The Gruffalo will be right at home with The Gruffalo’s Child as everything is flipped upside down and the Gruffalo’s daughter heads out into the forest for an adventure, hoping that she does not run into the Big Bad Mouse.
The Gruffalo’s Child, like The Gruffalo before, is adapted from the pages of the children’s book by author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler. The duo has collaborated on a wealth of stories over the years, with Room On The Broom and Stick Man also getting the West End stage treatment (Donaldson’s collaboration with Lydia Monks, What The Ladybird Heard, also gets the West End treatment in 2017). So audiences know that their work offers memorable delights for younger audiences.
The show has already delighted critics as well, who have been quick to praise it, and it is clear that this is going to follow in the footsteps of The Gruffalo and Room On The Broom in enjoying West End success!
The Gruffalo’s Child runs at the Lyric Theatre from Wednesday 22nd November 2017.
