For the latest show headed to the Old Vic Theatre, Mark Arends presents something both moving and enlightening as puppetry and other audio-visual elements meld together to create The Missing Light.
It is a show for the whole family that is bound to move audiences of all ages, with a captivating story that will leave a lasting impression on the heartstrings, plus performances from puppeteers that have to be seen to be believed.
These puppeteers are Samantha Arends, David Emmings and Sam Clark, with Mark Arends providing the script, direction and music. Together they weave a story that focuses on the characters of Warple and Hilda, two lost souls who find one another at a seaside village. The former has just moved to the location and the latter has recently lost her husband, with the pair finding one another as their perspectives are changed and their worlds explored.
As it is a show for all ages, younger audiences will get a lot from this compelling tale and it will provide a wonderful opportunity to introduce youngsters above the age of 7 to the world of London theatre.
But then this is something that Mark Arends provides at the best of times, with his previous shows Something Very Far Away and At The End Of Everything Else both winning praise when they were staged at the Unicorn Theatre. As a writer and performer his work has been seen around the capital and now he brings his work to the Old Vic Theatre with acclaim and awards under his belt.
The Missing Light runs at the Old Vic Theatre from Thursday 23rd March 2017.
