Audiences headed to the Trafalgar Studios 2 in January 2016 will be treated to Oscar Wilde’s masterpiece The Picture Of Dorian Gray. Not only is it a new adaptation of the iconic text, it also boasts some talented performers live onstage and as a result it is bound to be a must-see production in the New Year.
Oscar Wilde’s original novel emerged in the 1890s and despite its initial controversy (which no doubt brought it a lot of attention) it has since been an enormously influential text, inspiring countless stories and films. So its reappearance in the West End in this stage version will put a smile on the face of Wilde’s fans around the capital.
Merlin Holland pens the script for the production and this will be of great relief to aficionados of Wilde as he is the late writer’s grandson. The show also sees Guy Warren-Thomas portray Dorian Gray with John Gorick as Lord Henry Wotton. The latter’s credits include The Trials Of Oscar Wilde at the St James Theatre, plus television shows like Holby City and The 13th Day.
The Trafalgar Studios 2 continues to be a great place to witness memorable theatre. For example, 2016 also sees the return of the Jamie Lloyd Theatre Company with The Homecoming and The Maids at the sister venue of Trafalgar Studios 1.
The Picture Of Dorian Gray, meanwhile, runs at the Trafalgar Studios 2 from Wednesday 20th January 2016 (previews from Monday 18th January 2016).
