A trip to the Trafalgar Studios this summer will provide West End audiences with a chance to see some well known film and television actors on the stage as Jesse Eisenberg brings his play The Spoils to the capital.
The show was previously staged in New York with Eisenberg in the lead role and starring opposite The Big Bang Theary’s Kunal Nayyar. Both performers will make the transition to London and it means that Eisenberg’s play appears in the same year as another Hollywood actor brings his show to the West End, with Matthew Perry starring in The End Of Longing.
In The Spoils we are introduced to the characters of Ben (Eisenberg) and Kalyan (Nayyar), the former a bully who loathes himself and the latter his unfortunate roommate. The story is kicked in motion by the news that someone Ben fancied in school is tying the knot, leading him to scupper their chances by ruining the relationship and attempting to win her heart.
It is actually the third play penned by Eisenberg as US audiences have previously witnessed shows such as The Revisionist and Asuncion. He is a well known actor and his work in bringing this to the stage will ensure plenty of interest for the Whitehall venue in the summer.
After all, whilst he has turned many heads with his stage productions, he remains best known for his work on the screen. His film roles have included popular hits like The Social Network, Adventureland and Zombieland, as well as the likes of Now You See Me and 30 Minutes Or Less. 2016 also introduces audiences to his portrayal of Lex Luther in the DC superhero film Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
But the presence of this acclaimed film actor is not the only reason audiences will be headed to Whitehall to see The Spoils. Kunal Nayyar’s presence will also attract fans of television’s The Big Bang Theory as he has been playing the character of Rajesh in the show since it began.
So expect plenty of excitement as The Spoils opens its doors in London with a run beginning at the Trafalgar Studios 1 on Thursday 2nd June 2016 (previews from Friday 27th May 2016).
