Each Christmas attentions turn to the seasonal shows that will be entertaining younger audiences and families during the festive time. 2016 will be no different as children flock to the Ambassadors Theatre for this wonderful adaptation of Eric Carle’s books with The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show.

Four of his stories are performed onstage during the course of the show, with The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse leading to Mister Seahorse, The Very Lonely Firefly and, of course, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. These tales will utilize the work of puppeteers to bring the characters to life, with 75 puppets in total. It will mean plenty of visual treats for younger audiences as some familiar characters make the jumpy from the page to the stage.

The show comes from the mind of Jonathan Rockefeller, a director who has used his Rockefeller Productions theatre company to bring many successful stories to the stage. Previously he has worked on the likes of Thank You For Being A Friend and others. But with The Very Hungry Caterpillar he adapts a beloved children’s book that has been around since 1969 and has become an integral part of any childhood.

Writer Eric Carle has been behind a wealth of stories that have had such an effect, including those four mentioned above. Meanwhile, his other books include The Very Grouchy Ladybug and Walter The Baker, plus many others.

And now the stories The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse, Mister Seahorse, The Very Lonely Firefly and The Very Hungry Caterpillar appear as part of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show, which should not be missed when it opens at the Ambassadors Theatre on Friday 2nd December 2016.
