Audiences at the Trafalgar Studios 2 get to enjoy The Wasp this December as another of the Hampstead Theatre’s top shows make their way to the West End. Following in the footsteps of Sunny Afternoon, Four Minutes Twelve Seconds and Mr Foote’s Other Leg in recent years, The Wasp is set to make the transfer from the North London venue with director Tom Attenborough calling the shots from Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s script.
The Wasp is a story of two old acquaintances and an awkward proposition for one of them. Heather and Carla are school friends who have not seen one another since their days on the playground and in the intervening years their lives have gone in very different directions. So when they meet up it is as awkward as you would expect. What you wouldn’t expect is Heather’s proposition for the less successful Carla – one that includes a bag of money.
Director Tom Attenborough will undoubtedly provide an effective insight into Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s script. The acclaimed director has previously led shows like Abigail’s Party at the Theatre Royal Bath and Port Authority at the Southwark Playhouse, in addition to providing his voice to films and video games.
So The Wasp is certainly going to be something to keep an eye on when it runs from December 2015, providing West End crowds with a compelling tale and another reason to consider the Hampstead Theatre when it comes to predicting future Theatreland hits.
The Wasp runs at the Trafalgar Studios 2 from Friday 11th December 2015 (previews from Tuesday 8th December 2015).
