This May the Piccadilly Theatre presents various plays as part of the Sovremennik Theatre Season, which returns to the West End following previous appearances at locations such as the Noël Coward Theatre. Previously the season has included the work of Anton Chekhov and this is true this year with Three Sisters appearing during the month, but audiences will also be treated to both Three Comrades, based on the novel by Erich Maria Remarque, and Two For The Seesaw by William Gibson.
Three Comrades, first penned in 1936, takes audiences back to the previous decade at the end of the 1920s, with the focus the struggles of characters Robert Lohkamp, Otto Koster and Gottfried Lenz during a turbulent economic climate. It is a world in which the Great Depression is taking hold and the world is still reeling from the Great War.
It was one of many novels from the well known German writer Erich Maria Remarque, whose work includes the monumentally famous All Quiet On The Western Front, as well as other books like The Dream Room, Arch Of Triumph, A Time To Love And A Time To Die and Shadows In Paradise, amongst many others.
Three Comrades plays as part of the Sovremennik Theatre Season at the Piccadilly Theatre from Wednesday 3rd May 2017.
