Children looking for a great time in the West End will find everything they are looking for at the Lyric Theatre with the arrival of “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”, previously seen at the Duchess Theatre in the summer of 2009. The show is bound to put a smile on even the youngest of theatregoers when it lands in the capital, with the family adventure adapted from a popular book ensuring a new generation of London theatre fans emerges. Not only is it proof that there’s something for everyone in the West End; it’s proof that such shows can appear all year round.
Penned by Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen, “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” follows four children and their father as they set off through the long grass to find a bear, with mud, rivers, caves and more in the way on this memorable adventure. Maybe what they are looking for is on the other side of the forest? Wherever they find it you can be sure that young audiences will be captivated.
The show is a true and tested piece, having already wowed audiences in the West End and at the Bristol Old Vic, where it premiered under the direction of Sally Cookson (who returns with the show to the Lyric Theatre in 2013).
And those that are still unsure whether to take the plunge and pick up theatre tickets should know that the show is based on a book by Michael Rosen, who was the former Children’s Laureate and has penned an array of works like “Mind Your Own Business” and “Quick Let’s Get Out of Here”, with poetry among his talents as well.
So if you are looking for something for youngsters, look no further than “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” at the Lyric Theatre from Wednesday 3rd July 2013.
