The only novel ever written by Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights, is recreated on the stage of the Ambassadors Theatre (the ongoing home of Stomp) this Autumn season as the National Youth Theatre return to the venue for their latest string of shows. With direction from Emily Lim and Stephanie Street providing the adapted script, this will be an unbeatable opportunity to witness a classic story retold on the stage and to witness the talents of future stars.

The iconic story takes us to the Yorkshire farmhouse of the title, where we meet the well known characters of Heathcliff and Cathy. Little is known about the former when he is discovered and rescued as a child, but during the course of the show we will witness his friendship with Cathy blossom into a tragic romance over the years, with themes of envy and jealousy intertwined throughout.

The book was published in the 1840s shortly before Brontë’s death and has grown in stature in the years since so that it is now considered a classic amongst English literature. Its fame and popularity have ensured its continued success more than 150 years since it was first penned.

And on this occasion it is presented by the National Youth Theatre, who also present the shows Consensual and The Merchant of Venice in repertoire as part of their latest season with the Ambassadors Theatre. The charity has been the starting point for many well known actors and directors to cut their teeth and regularly stages stand-out shows in the capital. Last year’s season at the Ambassadors Theatre included Selfie, Macbeth and Private Peaceful.

Wuthering Heights runs at the Ambassadors Theatre from 18th September 2015.
