Bath, Windsor and Stonehenge Tour - Premium Tours
Magic, Mystery and Majesty in the one day!
Enjoy the wonders of England’s ancient birthright on this fantastic, one day tour. If you always wanted to marvel at the wonder of Stonehenge, gaze at the splendour of Windsor Castle or soak up the genteel atmosphere of Bath then here’s your chance to do all three.
This may seem overwhelming but believe us when we say that you will have plenty of time to take things at your leisure. We do not hurry you around and expect you to dash from one place to the next. No, these tours are designed so that you have time to appreciate the many sights and sounds on your tour schedule.
Our tours included guided walks but there is also ample opportunity for you to look around on your own. If you wish to take things easy and relax then what could be better than enjoying afternoon tea whilst listening to a string quartet? Then, our visit to Bath will allow you to sit and listen in the famous Pump Rooms.
If you would prefer to explore the history of those ancient menhirs at Stonehenge and simply admire this feat of engineering skill then you can do this.
And, if you want to know more about King John and the historic Magna Carta then our visit to Salisbury Cathedral will help you to learn more about this. The Magna Carta was signed in 1215, at Runnymede, as a peace treaty between King John and his barons. This famous document lies in safekeeping in the Chapter House at Salisbury Cathedral.
The one day tour:
It starts at 8.15am with a visit to the grand Windsor Castle. This ancient castle reaches back to the time of William the Conqueror and since then, countless monarchs have come and gone. And, have left their marks in more ways then one. This is home to our Queen and is the largest continuously occupied castle throughout the world.
Plus, there is the very attractive town of Windsor with its old fashioned shops and pubs, which is definitely worth a visit. And this wouldn’t be complete without a drive through historic Runnymede – the site of the signing of the Magna Carta.
We then make our way to the prehistoric monument Stonehenge. This pagan site dates back 5,000 years and even today, people continued to be mesmerised and intrigued by this world heritage site.
Who brought those 40 ton rocks and why? What was or is the purpose of Stonehenge? Is it a burial ground? An ancient temple designed for worship or a type of lunar observatory? We will never know what its original purpose was and that is part of the enduring fascination.
The final stop is the elegant city of Bath. This is a city which is more famously known for its spa and here on this tour you will have the opportunity to experience that for yourself. We take you on a guided tour of the city which still leaves time for you to explore a few of its delightful features for yourself. The monumental Abbey and the famous Pulteney Bridge are well worth a visit.
Bath contains a wide variety of shops, cafes and restaurants so if you’d prefer you can opt to spend some time indulging yourself. And, after a busy morning walking around Bath what could be better than to sit and listen to some uplifting music in the pleasant surroundings of the Georgian Pump Room. Especially if accompanied by a Champagne Reception. There is also the option to have a delicious afternoon tea.
Towards the end of our day we have the rare opportunity to see the Roman Baths lit by a fantastic array of torches. This private torch lit tour is exclusive to Premium Tour clients only.
This action packed day lasts for 11 hours but we think you will agree that it is value for money*.
* Food and drinks are not included in the price.
