Bath, Stonehenge, Salisbury and Magna Carta - Gray Line London
A taste of history and all in one day!
Ancient history comes to life on this comprehensive one day tour. We offer you the chance to sample the very best of England’s heritage on our range of one day tours.
These trips will enable you to experience the wonders of Stonehenge, the majesty of Salisbury Cathedral, the historic relevance of Runnymede and the signing of the Magna Carta.
And, don’t forget there is the style and elegance of Bath to equally enjoy.
Our modern, luxury coaches will pick you up from your hotel: we have a designated number of pick up points so there is plenty of choice. This full day starts from 8.45am at the coach pick up point and ends around 7pm (return to London).
So, what does the tour offer?
This superb one day event offers the following:
Stonehenge
These strange, monolithic stones still fascinate people today as they have done for centuries. Just what it is about those stones that continue to draw people to this ancient site? What was the original purpose of this site? We may never really understand what Stonehenge is but the interest still remains. Allow yourself to become part of the legend that is Stonehenge.
Salisbury Cathedral and the Magna Carta
This stunning monument to medieval history is a sight to behold. The spire alone stands at 404 feet which makes it the tallest spire in the country. Built 800 years, this cathedral is more famously known for its Chapter House – the home of the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta was signed by King John and his noblemen 1215 at Runnymede meadow.
Bath
This is a city which epitomises grace and elegance. The attractive thoroughfares, beautiful Georgian residences, the famous Pulteney Bridge and of course, Bath Spa are just a few of its delights. Enjoy the art and architecture and then refresh yourself at the world famous Sally Lunn’s tearoom.
The Roman Baths
This also includes a Torch Lighting ceremony – not in the summer season. Bath is of course famous for its springs and Roman Baths. These baths are a fascinating insight into that ancient world and are a masterpiece of Roman engineering.
Bath is also the place where the aristocracy once came to revitalise themselves by ‘taking the waters’ at Bath. You will have the chance to revitalise yourself by trying a glass of the spring water at the Pump Room.
