Bath, Stonehenge, Salisbury and Magna Carta with Lunch - Gray Line London
A fantastic chance to explore England’s rich heritage!
Come and explore some of the very best sights this country has to offer. This one day tour will take you on a fascinating journey into England’s past which will delight, entertain, intrigue and fascinate you in equal measures.
And, to complete this perfect day we have included a traditional English lunch at a pub in Salisbury. This is included in the overall tour price.
This full day will revisit some of those places where history was made. This includes Salisbury in particular the awe-inspiring cathedral which is home to a very famous part of history. The cathedral Chapter House contains the famous Magna Carta document: this document was proof of an agreement reached between King John and his barons in 1215 at Runnymede.
If you enjoy ancient history then look no further than Stonehenge. This isolated, windswept monument continues to mystify and intrigue now as it probably did many thousands of years ago. Imagine 5,000 years ago when these towering monoliths were dragged onto this plain but for reasons which are still as yet unknown. Is it some form of religious temple? Is it an ancient burial ground? These are just some of the many thoughts people have had regarding its purpose.
What do you think?
Another example of the ancient past is Rome: and Rome’s influence can be seen in various cities around the UK. One of these is the beautiful city of Bath which is included in the itinerary. Bath is known for the healing properties of its famous waters and you too will get the chance to find out for yourself by trying a glass of the spring water*.
*For Golden Tours clients only
Our tour includes a tour around this most elegant city with a visit to the well known Roman Baths. These baths were hidden from public view until the 1870’s and now accessible to all. A Torch Lighting ceremony takes place in which a series of torches are lit around the sides of the Great Roman Bath. This is not available in the summer.
This tour will pick you up from your hotel at 8.45am and will return to London at 7pm.
