Al Pacino may perform on London stage
Al Pacino has been rumoured to be bringing his version of Shylock to the West End.
The actor is in talks to perform in The Merchant of Venice in London following a successful run in New York, the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye reported.
Pacino performed in the Daniel Sullivan-directed play first as part of the Shakespeare in the Park event during the summer.
The New York Public Theater's production then moved to the Broadhurst Theater, where Lily Rabe joined The Godfather actor in the role of Portia.
Bamigboye suggested that talks to bring the play to London were ongoing and expected them to be long, due to the number of producers involved in the show.
As a result, a date and venue for the production have not yet been confirmed.
The actor performed the role of Shylock in the 2004 film version of the play and is set to take the lead role in a new adaptation of King Lear.
