Coutts Returning to the Role of Meat, Having Previously Inhabited That Role and Scaramouche

We Will Rock You lands in the spotlight again as a casting announcement emerges for one of the West End’s most popular productions. It will see Amanda Coutts, who originally played both Meat and Scaramouche, return to the show to once again portray Meat, and Rolan Bell make his way to the West End to play Britney. They will star alongside the ongoing performers like Oliver Tompsett, Alasdair Harvey and Rachel Wooding, among others.

We Will Rock You is the long running musical at the Dominion Theatre penned by Ben Elton and featuring the music of Queen. It depicts a future in which globalisation is complete and the whole Earth now operates as Planet Mall led by the Globalsoft Corporation and the evil Killer Queen. Freedom of music and expression is forbidden and it is up to a group of freedom fighters called the Bohemians to return the world to the golden era known as the Rhapsody.

Hit songs included as part of the production include Radio Gaga, I Want To Break Free, Who Wants To Live Forever, Another One Bites The Dust, Killer Queen and Bohemian Rhapsody, among others.

As mentioned, Amanda Coutts previously portrayed Meat and Scaramouche in the production prior to returning to the part of the former. The actress has also appeared in productions like Fame at the Cambridge Theatre and Footloose on a UK tour, in addition to work overseas in Germany and on television screens.

Meanwhile, Rolan Bell is perhaps best known to audiences for his work in television shows like EastEnders and Doctors. On the stage his work has included performances in well known shows like The Lion King (at Disneyland Paris), as well as The Harder They Come at the Playhouse Theatre, Carmen Jones at the Royal Festival Hall and Jack And The Beanstalk at the Cambridge Arts Theatre.

So in a month in which shows like The Phantom of the Opera and Matilda the Musical announced new performers, the new cast take over in We Will Rock You from Monday 7th October 2013. The show is currently booking until Saturday 5th April 2014.
