Arcade Fire claim first UK number one album
Arcade Fire have scored their first number on album in the UK following the release of The Suburbs.
The third album to be released by the Canadian group beat Eminem's new release Recovery into second place.
Claiming the top spot last week, the American rapper had prevented Tom Jones from becoming the oldest male singer to get a number one album in British chart history.
The Suburbs is the follow-up to the group's 2007 release Neon Bible, which hit the number two spot and included the single Keep the Car Running.
Fans of the band will get to see them perform tracks from these two records and singles such as Rebellion (Lies) and Wake Up when they take to the stage as a headline act at the Leeds and Reading festivals later this month.
They are also set to embark on their own headline arena tour of the UK in December, playing dates in cities including Manchester, Birmingham and Cardiff.
