Bear Hunt and Chocolate Factory Extend
Two Shows Add New Dates in the West End
Two west end shows have added new dates in the capital, thus giving London audiences extra time to pick up theatre tickets. One of them is We’re Going On A Bear Hunt, the kids shows that is running at the Lyric Theatre, and it will now continue until early September. The other is the brand new musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the high profile musical from director Sam Mendes and based on the famous novel by Roald Dahl.
We’re Going On A Bear Hunt returns to the capital in July 2013 and this marks the latest occasion in which it has appeared here following a previous run at the Duchess Theatre in 2009. The production follows a family, consisting of children and their father, as they head out in search of a bear, looking in the long grass, traversing caves and rives and finding themselves in lots of mud. Wherever it is, audiences are promised something they will remember for some time to come.
It is based on the picture book from Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury, the former being the Children’s Laureate from 2007 to 2009.
We’re Going On A Bear Hunt is now booking at the Lyric Theatre from Wednesday 3rd July 2013 until Sunday 8th September 2013.
Charlie And The Chocolate Factory opened at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Tuesday 25th June 2013 following previews that began in May and it had been hotly anticipated thanks to its high profile source material and its renowned creative team. It features Douglas Hodge as the iconic Willy Wonka, portrayed by Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp on the big screen, and The Young Ones star Nigel Planer as Grandpa Joe.
It tells the story of Charlie, who finds a golden ticket in his chocolate bar, which grants him a place on a one-in-a-lifetime tour of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Along the way there are many surprises for the children and their accompanying guardians.
Having opened this month, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory is now booking at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane to Saturday 31st May 2014.
