Bill Ward and Tamara Wall in Viva Forever at the Piccadilly Theatre
New Cast Members Join the Eagerly Awaited Spice Girls Musical in the West End in December
It’s been a while since anything “Viva Forever”-related has hit the headlines but over the weekend a casting announcement emerged for the eagerly-awaited Spice Girls musical. Previously Sally Ann Triplett had been cast in the production and now more names have been added, including Bill Ward, Tamara Wall and Sally Dexter, to round out a cast that also includes Hannah John-Kamen.
The production is set to open at the Piccadilly Theatre this November with a book by Jennifer Saunders and produced by Judy Craymer (“Mamma Mia!”).
“Viva Forever”, using the back catalogue of the Spice Girls as its musical numbers, will tell a story of friendship in the context of a television talent show (like “The X Factor”). We follow the main character, a beautiful young girl, as she is thrown into the spotlight as a famous singer and though there is plenty to be happy about there’s the lingering question of friends and family members that she is leaving behind.
Bill Ward is well known to audiences as he had a large part in “Coronation Street” until 2006 when it portrayed the character of Charlie Stubbs, though he has also appeared on television screens in the likes of “Casualty”, “Doctors” and “The Bill”, among others.
However, it will be his London theatre experience he reflects upon for his part in “Viva Forever”, which includes credits like “Spamalot” at the Palace Theatre, “The Lion King” at the Lyceum Theatre and “Million Dollar Quartet” at the Noel Coward Theatre.
Meanwhile, Tamara all has appeared in various productions over the years, including west end shows like “Legally Blonde the Musical” at the Savoy Theatre and “We Will Rock You” at the Dominion Theatre. She has also made appearances in productions across the country and abroad in locations like Germany and the USA.
The Piccadilly Theatre is currently the home of “Ghost The Musical” until Saturday 6th October 2012, with “Viva Forever” following from Tuesday 11th December 2012 (with previews from Tuesday 27th November 2012). It is initially booking to Saturday 1st June 2013.
