Billie Piper 'to play Eliza Doolittle'
Billie Piper may be poised to take on the role of Eliza Doolittle in George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion.
The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye reported that Piper may be starring in Philip Prowes's planned Chichester Festival Theatre, along with a host of other famous names, as long as they all agree to the roles and the play's timing.
If the play goes ahead it is though that David Jason will take on the role of Eliza's father, Alfred P Doolittle, in a performance which would see him take to the stage for the first time in 25 years.
A source close to Jason told the reporter: "He has said never, never, never - but he might say yes to this."
It is thought that Rupert Everett would play the part of Professor Henry Higgins, the man who teaches phonetics to Eliza and transforms her into a lady, with Angela Lansbury suggested to perform as his mother, Mrs Higgins.
