Billy Elliot extends West End run
Billy Elliot: The Musical is to continue dancing at the West End for another year after a further extension to the show was announced.
The booking period for the production has been extended by eight months, with it now scheduled to close on December 17th 2011.
Staged at the Victoria Palace Theatre, the show is based on the film of the same name, following a young boy from a Tyneside mining town who aspires to become a dancer at the Royal Ballet School.
Featuring music by Elton John, the musical has won vast critical acclaim and on October 13th 2010 celebrated performing to its three millionth audience member.
The part of the young dancer is currently played by four actors, with Dean Charles Chapman, Scott McKenzie, Aaron Watson and Rhys Yeomans alternating between the role.
Genevieve Lemon performs in the role of Mrs Wilkinson, the dance teacher portrayed by Julie Walters in the 2000 film.
